obsessed is an understatement.

here’s what we’ve tie-dyed so far: throw blanket + linen tablecloth + linen napkins + pillowcases + shirts + tofu the doggo’s bandana + tea towels

links to the goodies we used: rit dye in tan / rit dye in taupe / rit dye in wine / rit dye in grey

steps i did:

  1. gather items and rubberband them in a scrunch technique – literally just gather the fabric (check out my IGTV video
  2. prep your dye bottles – i used old hot sauce bottles for this + 1 tbsp salt + warm water
  3. pre-soak your items in 1 cup baking soda + few gallons of water. helps wash out your items to prep for dye
  4. space your items in a bucket and get to dye-ing
  5. once all soaked with dye, put items in bag to develop for 2 hours
  6. rinse with water first until water is clear
  7. wash and dry as normal!

tips on achieving neutral colors:

      • i mostly did 60% tan, 10% wine, 10% grey, a dash of taupe
      • use a paper towel to dip in the bottle to see the color it will be
      • let it hang out in the bag to develop for 2 hours
      • be mindful that the color will lift a bunch when you wash, so go darker
      • i soaked the items, but left a lot of white since i wanted more white showing
